Mark Hardy

Hi, I’m Mark! I learned to tattoo in Toronto, Canada, waaaay back in 2007. Since then, I’ve owned a studio in Lytham St Annes on the Lancashire coast, spent time working back in Toronto, and eventually returned to my roots here in Retford. Starting out in a busy street shop taught me to love working in a wide range of styles, but I particularly love traditional, neo-traditional, black and grey realism, and portrait work. I’m also a huge fan of stained-glass-style tattoos. Nearly two decades later, I still love the privilege of creating artwork that people will wear for the rest of their lives.

When I’m not tattooing, you’ll probably find me at an ice hockey game. I’m the team Chaplain for the Sheffield Steelers, and I’m there most weekends during the season. I have no athletic ability myself, though!
You might also find me playing with my band, or recording my tattoo podcast,
Chattoos. One of my favourite things about tattooing is building relationships with my clients. Fair warning though: if you can’t cope with terrible dad jokes and relentless puns, we might not be a good fit!

Above all, I’m passionate about making tattooing a welcoming experience. Whether it’s your first tattoo or your fiftieth, I want everyone who walks through the door to feel comfortable, respected and able to be themselves. No matter your ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age or background, tattooing should be fun—and nobody should ever feel excluded.

Come in for a consultation, book a tattoo, or just drop me a message. I’d love to hear your ideas and see what we can create together.
